WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE
Job Info Location: Leeds Rate: £17.14 per hour Type: Temporary
We are recruiting reliable and physically active Warehouse Operatives for temporary and casual roles across distribution centres, logistics hubs, and fulfilment sites. Ideal for candidates seeking flexible shift patterns — including days, nights, and weekends — with immediate start opportunities and competitive weekly pay. No prior experience is required; full induction and on-site training are provided.
Responsibilities
- Picking and packing customer orders accurately in line with daily targets and quality standards
- Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, checking goods in and out against manifests and delivery notes
- Operating pump trucks, pallet trucks, and other manual handling equipment safely
- Scanning and recording stock movements using handheld RF scanners or warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Organising and placing goods into designated storage locations following FIFO procedures
- Wrapping and palletising completed orders ready for dispatch
- Conducting stock checks, cycle counts, and assisting with inventory management
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and tidy warehouse environment in line with health & safety regulations
Skills / Qualifications
- Previous warehouse, logistics, or distribution experience is an advantage — full training is provided
- Ability to work at pace and meet picking or packing targets in a high-volume environment
- Good attention to detail for accurate order picking, labelling, and stock recording
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills; ability to read picking lists and delivery documents
- Comfortable with physical work including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods
- Counterbalance or reach forklift truck licence (FLT) is a bonus but not essential
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player with a safety-conscious mindset
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, nights, and weekends
